Understand Our Responsibility For Protecting the Environment

It is widely acknowledged that climate change is a real threat to our planet with scientific evidence pointing to man-made emissions of greenhouse gases as a key factor. We are taking action to reduce our impact on the environment as far as possible through a variety of initiatives.

Environmental Policy and Strategy
The UK Greetings Statement of Environmental Policy and Environmental Strategy Statement govern our approach to how we acknowledge and fulfil our responsibilities for minimising our impact on the environment, ensuring all employees are fully informed about how they are able to support the Company in working towards this goal.

We regularly review all chemicals required in our operations and, where possible, they are changed to ensure that they have no harmful effects during usage or disposal.

90% of our company cars are fuelled by diesel, which has a lower CO2 emission than the equivalent petrol vehicle.

We have focused on reducing our energy consumption, by replacing new heaters with a higher energy efficiency rating in our warehouse, has resulted in a 3% reduction in our electricity consumption.

Going forward we will continue to be proactive in our pursuit of reducing the company’s carbon footprint and our future strategy is to ensure compliance and high performance under the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) Scheme.

UK Greetings - Producer Responsibility

UK Greetings take on some of the waste management costs of their products when they reach their end of life. WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment), packaging and batteries are such waste products that UK Greetings understand are considered a priority waste stream. 

These waste streams need tackling due to growing concerns about their impact on the environment. Thus the UK must meet its national targets for recovery and recycling of these wastes set under each EU Directive.

UK Greetings register every year to a compliance scheme, and throughout the compliance year the scheme must obtain evidence that UK Greetings’ contribution to this waste stream has been recovered, recycled or reused.
