With trends and crazes changing year on year in the juvenile market, the industry is constantly kept on its toes having to keep up to speed and up to date with the latest ‘fads’. As a publisher you must capturing what children are tuning into on the television, viewing at the cinema or reading in a book – these are the avenues for gaining sales from cards,
Licences are king for juvenile and continue to perform well in the market. Recognition is the majoring factor in product selection so securing an on trend character for cards is the key to a successful range of designs.
Juvenile greeting cards have always been a popular send and this continues to be the case, but we are now seeing that tween and teen cards are becoming just as sought after. Key themes that attract this audience are humour, style, wit and cheek all the traits of Glee.
The diverse range of characters is the integral success of the show, adults and children alike will openly, or secretly, be able to relate to the cast. This is ideal for companies holding a publisher licence because merchandise, even if its targeted to a specific age, could in fact appeal to a much vaster audience.
